A brief recap on last week’s interview and how my book is coming along. Last week, on Friday the 13th, I met with the guys from the Illinois Paranormal Historic Society, or Ghost Head Soup (GHS) as they prefer to call themselves. Dean, George, Mark, Tim, and Nick (who was called away attending his expecting wife), were more than accommodating.
Not only did they commit to an entire evening of interview at their lab, they also invited me along to see the inner workings of an actual investigation. I would love to divulge everything about the investigation, but that is what chapter 13 (the interview took place on Friday the 13th) in the book is dedicated to.
I will say this much, there were a few hair-raising events of “unexplainable occurrence”. I found one of the fascinating aspects of the experience to be the mood, or tone, of the investigation, which I will get into more in my book. The guys; well, they are as normal, and as cool, as your favorite Sunday afternoon backyard barbeque family fun-types, the only difference; they just don’t scare as easily.
One disturbing sight was “the doll” George had been given to investigate. The doll has somewhat of a history. Allegedly, this doll has been known to just “pop up” in odd places. The owners of the antique doll have placed it in one spot only to leave the room and return some time later to find it was in a different spot.
The evening was a success from the standpoint of an author; I was given an extensive interview, a peek inside the operation of an investigation, and I was invited back to join them for another field investigation in May.
The field investigation in May does cause me slight concern. It is at a farm, which has been passed down through generations and the inhabitants of the farm claim they have had a great deal of paranormal activity, including physical attacks against them. Reportedly, the entities have left their mark on victims by wounding them with mysterious deep scratches to various parts of their bodies. “It’s typically not a good sign when entities lash out at the people living there”, George said, “that’s when we have to determine whether it [the spirit] is an actual ghost entity or a demonic entity”.
Well, I for one am curiously concerned for the people living there and cannot wait to join the guys at GHS in May. The book is coming along fabulously! I am having a great deal of fun conducting research and I am more than three-quarters of the way finished with the manuscript. I must say, even the BS of this project; dealing with; the artwork for the cover, the agent, editor, publisher, and the boring legalities, have all been rather fun. I could only wish every manuscript were as fluid as this one!
